Recreational Fire Restrictions
Recreational fires are permitted with the following restrictions:
- Size no great than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height.
- Minimum setback of 25 feet from structures or combustible materials.
- Fires must be attended at all times.
- A source of extinguishment must be present at all times.
- Smoke must not be objectionable by neighbors.
- Fires intended to dispose of materials including (but not limited to) trash, construction materials, structures, leaves and trees are prohibited.
- Fires are prohibited when the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation deems atmospheric conditions as hazardous. This is typically during the spring.
Fires must be extinguished when determined unsafe on in violation of any of the above by either the fire company and/or Town of Clarence Code Enforcement official. If the violations are not corrected, the Town of Clarence may take legal action to compel compliance, including the imposition of appearance ticket(s) and /or financial penalties.
