The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced that the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning will be in effect from March 16 to May 14, 2026.
This ban is in place to prevent wildfires and protect communities and first responders during heightened conditions for wildfires. The DEC enforces this ban to ensure the safety of New Yorkers and the environment.
